January 1, 2015 Happy New Year!

A Happy New Year’s Day to everyone! Let’s hope that 2015 is better than 2014 was in so many ways. I wanted to start off this year by announcing that I have NO RESOLUTIONS at all! I decided a long time ago that New Year’s Resolutions were nothing more than a way to keep us feeling less than hopeful about ourselves. What is the point to making some grand statement that realistically we cannot keep, only to see it crash and burn during the year and then have regrets for not being able to carry through on that decision?
Isn’t it better to give your best each day to make the world a better place for EVERYONE in it? That seems something that should be natural, and perhaps that is the problem. Too many people approach life in a very selfish manner, and that blinds them to the fact that we are all in this thing together. They theorize that in order for them to have something that someone else must be prevented from having that same thing, life becomes a zero-sum game. Hardly an optimistic view of the world around us, don’t you think?
Just take the time this year to do your best, and try to not forget your fellow human beings along the way. Happiness and Joy are contagious, and not at all destructive. Let’s make 2015 a great year for us all!
